To My Friend

Published on 2 August 2024 at 22:21

You with the melancholy sea of green

Strong willowy branches outstretched

Moving to the sorrowful howl of the moon

Drowning in amber ripples of warm liquid

Echos of days gone by refusing to loosen their grip

Dragging you to the depths of hell

Where talons sink their grip into your beautiful mind

You’ve convinced yourself that you deserve the pain

Pain of a thousands cuts tearing at your flesh

You embrace it like an old friend welcoming it in

Wrapping it around you like a warm blanket

Sinking so deep and far you no longer see the surface

Twisting and thrashing in the agony of your demons

Demons that have faces and names

Bright smile from ear to ear suddenly bursting forth

If only you knew how contagious that smile is

Talented hands full of rhythm and passion sweeping you to a happier place

Bringing joy to those in your orbit if only for a moment

But you will not hold on to this moment long

Soon you will sink back to the grimy depths of your torture

Convinced that pain is love and love is pain

Until one day you see yourself as you truly are

A beautiful person with so much talent

Loving others with your whole being

How I hope to see that day

For a bit, I was convinced you were talking about me. Like you’ve peeked into my very soul. Very beautiful. The usage of your words were as smooth as melted chocolate on one’s tongue. Just beautiful.

Wow! I think I read this at least 5 times and every time I was impacted differently, and saw you talking about not only myself, but others close to me too! What an amazing gift you have ❤️
